Community Drinking Water Project – Attapady, Kerala

In the summer of 2019, Youth Interns from Canada in the remote tribal hills of Attapady, Kerala identified a village with no access to drinking water.
In February 2021, Sewa Canada International Aid Inc. in collaboration with Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission in Attapady, helped solve that problem, bringing drinking water to Chavadiyur village for the first time.
This project involved laying 5 kms of pipes to bring in water to this village, through difficult terrain. Then a total of 55 connections were provided to the residents of the village, a connection per home. The whole project cost C$ 7,000.
Sewa Canada dedicates this project to the memory of Late Major General Ashok Kumar Vasudev, AVSM, and his service to the nation. Gratitude to the Vasudev family who made this project happen. The project was inaugurated by Honourable Professor Richard Hay (ex Member of Indian Parliament)
