Alberta Wildfires - Food Relief for Evacuees |
Hot and dry conditions in Alberta have triggered an early and intense wildfire season. As of last Wednesday, 91 wildfires were burning in Alberta’s forest protection areas, with 27 still out of control. Although the number of evacuees has dropped to about 12,000 from a peak of over 30,000 earlier this month, the situation remains critical. On Friday May 19th, at Spruce Grove, AB, Sewa Canada International Aid Inc. in collaboration with its partner organization WE TOGETHER STRONG COMMUNITY served 150 freshly cooked meals to wildfire evacuees and firefighters. We are committed to continuing our relief efforts in partnership with local organizations, closely monitoring the situation to provide ongoing support. To assist us in delivering at least 1,000 fresh, hot meals to wildfire evacuees in Spruce Grove and Whitecourt over the next few weeks, we urge you to donate generously. 100% of your donations will be directly transferred to support relief efforts on the ground. Donations are tax-deductible in Canada, and tax receipts will be issued automatically for online contributions. Donations may also be made by cheque, payable to “Sewa Canada International,” and mailed to the following address. Please mention “Alberta Wildfires Food Relief” on your cheque. Address: P.O.
