Devastating flash floods have swept across Nepal, destroying homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Thousands of families are displaced and urgently need food, clean water, shelter, and medical assistance.

Sewa Canada International is in collaboration with its volunteers & partner on the ground in Nepal - Smart Health Global is supporting relief and rescue efforts to help affected communities through this critical time.

Update #3 - When Help Was Needed Most, Our Volunteers Stepped In

One of the most heartbreaking moments our teams witnessed today was at a Buddhist monastery located on a slightly higher ground near the Trishuli river. A mass funeral was taking place there for those who lost their lives in the flood. On their way back, they saw survivors sitting by the road, sharing their pain and frustration. They had lost their homes, and had not received sufficient aid yet.

Our team immediately distributed out remaining 50% of the relief materials to these families.

Update #2 - Relief Delivered Directly to Flood-Affected Families

Today Wednesday 02 Sep - Our team of volunteers reached the flood-affected area of Bidur, Nuwakot, via Trishuli at around 1 PM (Nepal Time), carrying relief materials.

Around 50% of the relief materials were handed over to the District Coordination Committee (local government authorities supervising and controlling the supervision of relief to survivors.

The remaining 50% family relief packages prepared by our volunteers last night, was directly delivered and distributed to the affected families.

Update #1 - Volunteers Working Through the Night to Support Flash Flood Survivors

Today in Kathmandu - our volunteers working late into the night, packing essentials for survivors, including food essentials. Tomorrow (Wedenesday) they travel to Bidur in Nuwakot district to provide this aid to the survivors of the flash floods in this area.

Our immediate focus areas are:

Mobile Health & Tele Health Services: Bringing medical care directly to affected communities, including mental health counselling. Smart Health Global’s team of doctors, its extensive experience and track record in providing tele-health services to the remotest areas of Nepal is being deployed in collaboration with Health Authorities in Nepal.
Medical Supplies for Hospitals/Health Posts: Smart Health Global is collaborating with hospitals and Doctors to provide emergency supplies required in hospitals caring for victims in impacted areas.
Maternal & Child Health Kits: Smart Health Global’s team of Health professionals with extensive experience in this area, will provide essential care items to protect vulnerable mothers and children.
Food, Shelter & Survival essentials: Sewa Canada International volunteers in Kathmandu, Nepal are also working to provide drinking water, nonperishable food items, tarps for emergency shelter, beds, clothes, emergency lamps and hygiene kits for survivors for distribution through Army and Government authorities in Nepal.
